The goal of the Planthood project is to establish a vibrant online community that connects indoor plant lovers and plant merchants, providing them with a comprehensive platform for knowledge sharing, skill development, convenient purchasing, and commercial growth. Through this community, we aim to foster a sense of belonging, inspire learning, and drive revenue generation for both users and merchants.
Planthood is a dual-platform online community designed to unite indoor plant enthusiasts and merchants. The mobile client offers plant lovers educational content, convenient shopping, and offline events, while the desktop interface empowers merchants to showcase products and boost revenue.

Despite buying quality plants, spending hours watching youtube tutorials, and investing in tools and appliances, people still many failed to sustain their indoor, green plants.
Indoor plant enthusiasts, merchants selling plants and products
In the research conducted for Planthood, a multifaceted methodology was employed to gather comprehensive insights. The approach included surveys and in-depth interviews with experts in indoor plants, offering valuable perspectives on user behaviors and preferences. Guided tours provided observational data in real-world contexts, supplemented by still photo surveys capturing visual information. A thorough competitor analysis was conducted, dissecting the competitive landscape and extracting pertinent features and trends. Through the assimilation of these insights, an ecosystem map was meticulously developed.
Following a sequence of iterative stages encompassing brainstorming, sketching, information architecture, and flowcharting, a definitive structure emerged for the online community. This culminated in the strategic partitioning of the platform into distinct entities: a merchant portal and a customer portal. This division optimizes the user experience by tailoring functionalities to specific user roles, enhancing navigation, and ensuring a more intuitive and purpose-driven interaction.
Planthood functions as an online community with dual versions: a computer-based portal for merchants and a mobile application for customers. The merchant portal facilitates online sales of plant-related tools, enables plant promotion, and offers one-on-one plant disease diagnosis services. On the customer side, interactions with merchants ensure the well-being of plants, while engaging with the community enables discussions and the exchange of insights. Users share their plant experiences and care techniques. Moreover, physical stores of merchants feature shelves designated for plant swaps, where customers can trade surplus plants. This multifaceted platform fosters seamless communication, empowering plant enthusiasts to connect, learn, and exchange both virtually and in-person.
